On the 27 June 1946, Morris Owen opened a bank account with HMRC and started trading as an accountant under the name Morris Owen & Co, having previously been in a partnership with a Mr. Aldermen for around 14 years.

75 years later, the Partners are proud that we continue trading under his name.

Swindon has seen dramatic change and growth over that period, as has the firm, but Morris Owen continues to serve businesses in the local area and further afield, as a firm of Chartered Accountants, Chartered Tax Advisers and Chartered Financial Planners.

Morris Owen’s ethos as a firm has changed little over the years, with the quality of service and advice continuing to be the most important factors as to how we work with our clients, alongside the retention of our independent status which is a cornerstone of who we are.

75 years has also seen a lot of changes of the faces at the firm, but we always look to the people in the organisation to uphold our values which have not changed over time. Succession planning continues to form an important part of our future, with the last year having seen the retirement of previous Senior Partner David Bond, who had 35 years’ service as a partner of the firm, and the welcoming of our latest addition to the partnership Jenna Wheeler, a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser, both of whom trained and qualified with the firm.

“As partners, we spend a lot of our time looking forward, planning the strategy for the firm, the services that we need to offer and how we need to continue to adapt to make sure they are relevant to how our clients wish to work.” commented Rob Beale, “but 75 years in business is a significant milestone and something to celebrate as it allows us to stand back and reflect on our history with a sense of pride. It also helps to ensure that when we look to our future, we keep true to the core values on which the firm has been built.”
