I’d heard from a colleague that there’s a new venue opened in Castle Street, Cirencester called Igloo. I had in mind visiting it in the warmer weather for an ice cream float, but this is not an ice cream parlour but a family owned restaurant serving locally sourced products and fresh food.

We arrived at 12 o’clock to a friendly welcome and sat downstairs amongst the fun, funky décor of the penguin motifs. The restaurant soon filled up but with more room upstairs there was still space for a few more guests.

With some truly mouthwatering healthy options on the menu I opted for a seared tuna salad, a tuna steak served with black pepper and sesame seed crust, together with avocado, radish, brown rice, beetroot and carrot topped with a sweet and spicy Asian dressing. I have never tried seared tuna before and I’m extremely disappointed that I have waited so long, this was absolutely delicious and very filling. My dining companion today, Ian, ordered the Chilli bowl, which was served with house fried nachos, rice and sour cream. Ian tucked in rapidly and thoroughly enjoyed his lunch, once he got over his eye watering first mouthful with the chilli kick! We both really enjoyed our meals and were extremely impressed with the quality of the food.

With a wide range of food on offer, including a child friendly ‘Ickle Pickle’ option, 2 for 1 on cocktails and a kitchen willing to accommodate creating dishes for those with allergies what’s not to like!
