Multi-national Swiss-based electric group
Baumer Limited, based just outside Swindon, is a one-stop shop for the complete range of sensors, motion control and RFID (radio frequency identification) products. The UK office forms part of the multi-national Baumer Group based in Frauenfeld in Switzerland. Since 1990, the parent company has increased the number of its subsidiaries from two to thirty. This has meant big changes in accountancy practice for the operations director, Gail Smith, to deal with.
Mike Johnson, partner at Morris Owen, has contributed his financial acumen to help Baumer Limited work with systems that at first had more to do with Swiss accountancy practice than the UK's. Morris Owen is comfortable working at an international level, and has the expertise in house to apply a global perspective to its accounting. Mike has readily met the challenges of presenting two sets of accounts in very different formats – one for the UK and one to meet the Swiss accounting requirements.
